Alrighty, I took a look at both 10_hw_overlay.diff and
11_hw_overlay_option.diff.
10_hw_overlay.diff enables hw overlay for i965, however all this code
appears to have been taken upstream. The code seems to have evolved
somewhat so it's not a perfect match, but in reading the logic it's
pretty clear the effect is already there. So I'm pretty confident this
patch is truly no longer needed.
11_hw_overlay_option.diff appears to be a bit mis-named, as it adds the
TexturedVideo option rather than something with hw_overlay. (Due to the
naming I just assumed before that it was just a tack-on patch to #10 but
actually it's quite distinct.) The reason it wasn't applying was just
that some other option got added upstream, so the code it patched has
changed. But it was easy enough to fix up, and I have done up a new
package with 11_textured_video_option.patch and the greedy patch:
