For better or worse, the current channel is what it is. Logging fundamentally changes that and trying to move the current channel environment to another space only seems to punish those who regularly hang out in the current channel. I think (would hope) that anyone chatting in the current channel recognizes it's a public space and thus no illusion of safety, other than safety in numbers, is available. It's akin to walking into a crowded coffee shop and asking for help and hoping a few good people will assist you or seeing a table of your friends chatting and you join them at their table but know the folks at the next table can also hear you. If you want privacy beyond that, you move to another space, you don't ask the whole room to move. -1 on logging of the current channel, recognizing we can't control what individuals do with any private logs they may take on their own.
