I did, had a wonderful time. It was my first year at SCALE, but we'll be going every year from now on. The atmosphere was that vibrant mix between professional & grass roots. I hadn't realized that SCALE is run fully by the local LUGs in that region. I think it's the only conference of this size supported by a volunteer effort?

I wish. I was still in transit Friday night.

There were plenty of women at the conference. I finally felt less like a minority. The LinuxChix booth was constantly busy. Barb at the FSF booth was constantly busy. It was nice to not feel like the odd one out.
Stormy Peters gave an excellent keynote. Her presentation was ultra-simple, no lingo, no insider jokes (except one about Second Life) and at first I wondered why she would speak so simply to such a wildly intelligent crowd. I think it is because when you really understand a subject and have looked at it from all angles, you can boil it down to simple truths. It gave me a lot to think about for the ride home. Topic "If you could do it again, would you do it for free?"

Jono Bacon's talk had us rolling in the aisles, so funny. My daughter and I were sitting along a side wall (standing or sitting room only).

The venue for the conference was fantastic, an ultra posh hotel with super cheap rates. My only regret is not taking time to go get a massage through the hotel services.
