Welcome Kaitlyn!
I saw your post on the ubuntu-doc list, as you noticed that team is
undergoing a bit of "changing of the guard" at the moment so we're
trying to track down folks who have the knowledge to fix up the help
pages, once we have their brain dump we can actually go about things
and getting people rolling with documentation :)
The core Ubuntu docs are written in Mallard format: http://projectmallard.org/
But there is still a lot of DocBook (Xubuntu docs are still written in
it, for instance)
So those may be a good place to start as we get the rest of the details handled.
