I dont think its a white guy Vs. women/colour issue. My unscientific
observation is that statistically, you will find a larger population
of Indian men as compared to Indian women in CS. And this disparity in
number (fewer Indian women as compared to Indian men) increases as you
climb the ladder. Most women I know, if they have not quit CS
altogether, have  moved into management roles -- Why they move into
non-technical roles is still a mystery. Returning to FLOSS, unless the
company employs them to work on it, you will find very few Indian
women here. I've been told its a "cultural" problem but I disagree.

The issue of "Low diversity statistics in Free software" can
definitely be discussed with bluntness, sans vulgarity. While obscene
language is attention grabbing, it does inhibit and/or shuts down the
possibility of conversing with people who may be uncomfortable with
it. If I were new to this list (and FLOSS) that would have been a
silencer for me.
