Hi all,
These are the new items from the agenda that we did not get a chance
to discuss at the Meeting on Tuesday, March 2, 2010. These are some
of the suggested items/goals for the -M cycle where we can have some
measurable goals. Since there are so many new items for the agenda,
let's get the discussion of these items started on the mailing list,
IRC channel, and the forums so that for the next meeting - TBD but in
2 weeks give or take a day or two.
1 - UW PROJECT PR TEAM - Ubuntu Women PR team. Should we have a team
responsible for both official project responses to publicized problems
within the Ubuntu community relating to women in open source and for
publicizing team activities and information.
2 - UDS-M BLUEPRINTS AND OBJECTIVES - Blueprints/goals for UDS-M.
Review of UDS-L Blueprint identify what still needs to be done. (on
this front I need to update the -L blueprint and make sure that the
wiki about about the UW project channels are update then send out an
email with those changes)
Start discussion of goals for -M. Suggested Goals for -M (Added to
agenda for this meeting to start the conversation about goals for -M.
Blueprint to be finalized and in LP on or before April 17th)
UW PROJECT LEADER ELECTIONS - UW Project Team Election of Leader(s) -
Team will vote on leader (s) in another condorcet poll. It is
important that all members who are on the mailing list, forums, and
IRC but are not listed on the UW team is LP please join it before May
15th. On May 15th the UW a list of the eligible UW team members will
be put together using the LP list.. I have been updating the list
from the channel poll - so this will not be a hard or time consuming
task. Between May 15th and June 1st the team will have time to review
those nominees Also after the nominees have been decided, I would like
for 2 people who are NOT running to volunteer to be responsible for
the condorcet poll. If you don't know how don't worry it's easy!
After this election the term of team leader(s) would be one year. The
vote would open on June 1st, close on June 15th. New leader(s) to be
announced on June 16th, 2010.
Here are the options for the team to consider - based on discussions
in December and January: (however if neither of these is what you
would prefer please add your suggestion to the thread)
Option 1 - Review of the CC appointed leader and a formal vote to
keep that leader in place or nominate and to choose another single
leader
or
Option 2 - Multiple co-leaders. The way I see this working 3 leaders
who together have diverse strengths and span many areas of the
community.
Personally I would like to see a call for elections, and go with 3
leaders. As each of the 3 will have various unique skills and
abilities however combine the 3 co-leaders should represent the
diversity of the team and span the community.
MEASURABLE GOALS - Measurable Goals for UDS-M
Area 1 - Enrollment: (UW Project Members in LP Mailing Lists)
Area 2 - Online Team Activity - (Wiki, Website, Blogging, Mailing list
discussions, Forum Discussions, LoCo teams, Ubuntu weeks) this would
also include the online Resources - marketing(ie poster, business
cards, fliers) and Knowledge Base wiki - review and see what else if
anything is needed
Area 3 - Community Activity/Event Participation (Conferences, LUG,
LoCo, Camps, Fests etc) - as both speakers, attends, and at booths
with other ubuntu teams.
Area 3 - Mentoring Program - revitalizing then re-introducing program
to both the UW Project and Ubuntu Community members. (this was
actually discussed in the meeting but left in on here so everyone
would know it would be part of the measurable goals for -M.
There was also the discussion of increasing women ubuntu members - I
believe that if we get the above goals in place and become an even
better springboard, doorway, stepping stone etc, into the community
that an increase in membership will naturally occur. However, I want
to stress I think it is important that we continue to track this using
what the spreadsheets that Alan Bell set up and that Laura Czajkowski
will be helping with continue to be used. As this will be a "report
card" area of the community to track growth, change, and contribution
as whole and see how our efforts as a project are occurring.
Thanks everyone! I know this is a lot but please take a moment or 2
and offer your feedback on the list, forums, and IRC channels.
