In terms of providing the safe-space criteria I mentioned in my last
mail, this is a compromise that would allow the balance between public
and privacy.

Splitting the project stuff off will allow focus on the project and its
initiatives, all of which should be ok to be logged. Splitting the
private stuff off will leave the project and social stuff mingled, which
would be a detriment to the focus of "project" and the proposed logging
would make the social stuff become less candid and more stressful,
eventually leading to a decline.

The #ubuntu-offtopic channel is not logged, so the 96%-male part of the
community gets to socialise without being recorded. I don't see any good
reason why the 50%-woman part that is #ubuntu-women should be forced to
socialise under other conditions.
