It sometimes happens that somebody cross-posts to multiple lists (say
ubuntu-women, debian-women & linuxchix), and the people who answer try
to reply to all those lists to make sure everybody gets all replies, but
there is no guarantee that all those people are members of all of those
lists. It's nice if those replies are approved to all lists involved
then.
That's one of the use-cases for actually looking at mails if they should
be approved (just not subscribed or the mail is a little too big but
useful) or not (e.g. spam/troll).
So my mail really had nothing to do with IRC... ;)
