Hi everyone,
Just a note to let you know about upcoming QuinnCo events. QuinnCo and the Florida Loco team have come together, to host a build day at the Florida Baptist Children's Home in Lakeland, Florida on August 15th, 2009. The event is expected to run from 10 am, to 3 in the afternoon, with dinner to follow at my home. We hope to complete 12 builds, working with the residents of the facility, and the goal is to leave 6 in the commons area as an LTSP lab, and 6 in the individual residence halls. The facility has better than 40 children in residence at the moment, and a total of 5 computers to share amongst all the children.
We intend to install Qimo, and we've been graciously given sponsorships for all 12 computers for annual subscriptions to KidZui, the terrific children's internet browser. We're pushing through some updates to Qimo before the install day, so we can have the most stable OS we can produce.
If you'd be interested in joining us for the build day, please email or call and let me know. Additionally, and here comes my solicitation, if you have any spare parts you can donate to the cause, let me know, I'll be happy to make arrangements. We're in desperate need of anything PentiumIII or higher.
We are currently working with the local media in order to get press coverage for this event. I will keep everyone posted as that progresses.
We're very excited about this event, and we've heard it through the grapevine that the children are excited as well. Here's hoping to have an incredibly successful and blessing-filled event.
Thanks for reading!! Best wishes and health for everyone,
Michelle C Hall
