experiences with both have been rather different from Shlomi's. To put it
simply - my experiences have been rather pleasant and nice. That may be
attributed to the fact that I'm a woman and my ideas about the lists would
have a few fundamental differences from his. I still don't understand why he
wanted to join Ubuntu Women - I can't believe he'll be as dense as to
believe that the two contain radically different members! While I appreciate
his thoughts on encouraging women in FOSS, I don't approve of his
methodologies - being so patronizing doesn't help! And each list has certain
guidelines, some spoken, others unspoken - he needs to accept that if he
needs to be accepted and listened to, he needs to adhere to the guidelines.
Complaining elsewhere later on about it will not help, and abuse and
discrimination ought not be tolerated. If he feels so strongly about it, he
should have either "adapted" or played it down after joining this list or
just given up and joined elsewhere understanding that his ideas on
liberation of women don't exactly match with those of liberated women.
And on another note, while I enjoyed reading his intro, I didn't understand
the need for such a verbose intro for a mailing list. It was sounding like a
trimmed down autobiography! Beats me why someone would do that!
Cheers,
Kadambari.
