Just a quick update on the HCI/Usability effort I've talked about
before. Several of you have expressed an interest in helping out
with this effort and I just wanted to let you all know that I am
still very interested in helping to lead in this area. I've
contacted Troy Sobotka from the Artwork and new Ubun2Design Team as
well as doing research on upstream efforts with Gnome and KDE. My
goal is integrate into the next release cycle beginning with the spec
process at the next Ubuntu Developer's Summit. I've seen how the
spec process works and believe we can carve out a manageable niche by
starting with a systematic approach at the beginning of a release
cycle. HCI/Usability is a huge process and I don't want to duplicate
other efforts so if we can integrate into the overall development
cycle, including bug reporting/testing and artwork development, I
think we have a good chance of making a sustainable project.
If that all sounds too complex then rest assured that we will be
coming back with specific, manageable tasks, once I understand a bit
more about exactly how to manage the effort. ;-)
Thanks to everyone who has expressed an interest in helping and if
you have any specific ideas on helping to move the effort forward,
please let me know.
cheers,
Dinda
