[UbuntuWomen] UbuntuWomen Google calendar

Google calendar doesn't handle different time zones in the same
calendar, which is very annoying especially if you are moving between
time zones. However, we should be able to maintain it in one time
zone and have subscribers see it in the time zone of their own
calendar. Its working for me - the IRC meeting appears as 8pm GMT if
you follow the link to the calendar and view it directly, but when I
subscribe to it in my calendar it appears as 6am (correctly adjusted
to Sydney time).

Reading over your email again, I think I can see what the problem is.
The meeting is set at 8pm UTC instead of 4pm UTC, which means the
conversion to 4pm US eastern time is correct. I don't know how this
event was added, but I suspect that you always need to add the event
in your own time zone (as specified in the google calendar settings),
rather than the native time zone of the calendar (in this case GMT),
even if the calendar you're adding to is in a different time zone.
That seems counterintuitive to me, and it would be nice if the
calendar handled the time zone more transparently, but there you go.
Convert the time of your event into your local time (using
timeanddate.com or something similar if you have as much trouble as me
converting between time zones reliably), and it should hopefully
appear correctly in other peoples' calendars.

Hope that helps,
Anna
