Daniel saludos, amigo lo que tu pides es muy facil, si usas gnome solo
tienes q ir a synaptic, buscar el paquete y en el menu del synaptic
donde dice: paquete. le das bloquear version, y esto hará que esta
version del mysql 4 que tienes no se actualize.
