Entre otras cosas, que apt-get es mas mnemotecnico que dpkg.

Del man:

Si entras en los detalles vas a ver que apt-get es mas facil de usar que
dpkg (y menos que Aptitude, por ejemplo), pero basicamente llegas a los
mismos resultados.

Personalmente, cuando tuve inconvenientes que apt-get no podia resolver,
Aptitude si. Y si este ultimo tampoco destrababa la cosa era porque
tenia que intervenir manualmente en el sistema de cache de paquetes de
la maquina.
