I will do that, but it might be nice to provide a solution instead of just filing a bug. Would it still be good to file a bug so it gets fixed in the distribution? I fired up the old 12.04 box to check, and the menu items DO appear in the top menu bar. Everything works great in 12.04. In 12.04 I can't switch to the window bar so didn't do that. In trying to see if I could get a hint re why the problem, I looked at gtk and python in the 12.04 and 16.04 boxes. NOTE - my 12.04 had huge amounts of software installed - much more than is, so far, in my 16.04. But, here's how they compare: 12.04: GTK1: LOTS; NO python re gtk1; LOTS webkitgtk1 GTK2: lots; NO webkitgtk2; some python 2.7 re gtk2 GTK3: LOTS!; NO python re gtk3; LOTS webkitgtk3 16.04: small generic webkitgtk [no#] for python3 under /orca/scripts GTK1: modest; NO python re gtk1 except above; some webkitgtk1 GTK2: lots; NO webkitgtk2 - messages only; modest python 2.7 re gtk2 GTK3: HUGE!; NO python re gtk3; NO webkitgtk3 I don't know what the current version of fslint uses [not a software person :-( ] but it would seem that the necessary components are in 12.04, and perhaps not in 16.04. If someone can tell if a needed part is missing from 16.04, it might be a clue. Also, if an additional component is installed, can the different versions coexist with no problems? It seems as though most components of the versions are numbered well so perhaps that is possible.
