I have installed ubuntu 14.04 on my test machine
and installed Wine. I can get my Genealogy

cannot get the transcription program I use
(WinBMD7) to run after installing. The install
creates two shortcuts on the desktop and neither
runs the program. I have opened the directories
under .wine and tried to run the executables,

Since I cannot find a direct replacement for MS

programs are VMWare and VirtualBox. Most of my

sufficient to allow me to have Ubuntu as the
main OS and run Windows XP in a virtual machine?
