            Does running dmesg in a terminal tell you anything useful
            (in the case

            that it does not work).  Run dmesg then plug it in and run
            dmesg again

            and see what new messages have been added.

        It appears to be trying to attach it as a ethernet device.  What

        you see when it does connect ok?  I don't know about the iphone,

        it be used via the usb in different modes?  Maybe someone with
