LibreOffice isn't a completely different project to OpenOffice.org.
It's a 'fork', which basically means an organisation (the Open Document
Foundation in this instance) takes the project, renames it, and starts
developing it themselves.

This means that a huge amount of the internals remain the same - all
that changes is what the ODF feel needs to change. If the guts of the
thing are fine, then those might not be changed at all. If the initial
project was well designed, it should be easy to run the original and
its fork side-by side with no problems, but by several accounts, this
isn't the case with LibreOffice. Perhaps, though, this has changed
recently.

Maybe try running them side-by side and see how it goes? It's just
worth bearing in mind that it might go a bit wrong if you do that.

Well then I just unintall OO prior to install LO from PPA. So uninstalling OO is fine but when I install LO from PPA and upgrade in April, then at that time what would happen of this PPA since LO is there in 12.04 in the main repos only and I have already added this PPA by that time...?
