The CD player is NOT the problem. All other ?CD work fine. The problem is the downloader from the internet. There is a problem with downloadingwhich we are working on- re the net. Whhy it will not download from the brought CD, the supplier has a CD burning problem for thaqt month in some CD. Am awaiting replacement CD. Will update list when we get the CD. It is a new and good(meaning nothing wrong with Drive) Hard Drive without any system on it. CDS flatly refused to boot. The Mandrake booted ok but has missing files so can not install. (it is a very old system) Have been given another boot up install CD of Ubuntu 11.4 to try and see if it works. Robyn </pre> </blockquote> <pre wrap=""> Buy a CD/DVD cleaner (it's a disk with a little brush on it that you put cleaning fluid on - and you stick it in your CD/DVD drive and it cleans the lens); this should resolve the issue as it appears as though it's not the issue with any of the distros, it's actually a physical issue with the CD/DVD drive you're using on the machine.
