If someone tries to patent that, you need only point them to Ren &
Stimpy "Space Madness" where Ren has a hose connected to his brain to
the console. The user control-interface seems to be based on grimaces
and insane cackling coupled to eyebrow waggle sequences. Imagine some
buffin on an airplane doing his final draft for a presentation to the
National Geographic Society. I guess he'd appear less crazy that someone
trying to use Unity to achieve the same goal. :) Ric
Hi All

What is exactly the difference between Alt-F2 and Win-A in Unity? When
using Win-A I cannot launch or find applications in eg $HOME/bin,
though this is set in my $PATH variable. Using Alt-F2 the application
is found.

And how can I get the correct logo of the program I am making in the dash?
Plenty of people have signed the Code of Conduct. Somewhat less have
then gone on to contribute to Ubuntu. Somewhat less have decided
they'd like to request membership and have gone through the process of
becoming a member. 697 or so in fact. These people are contributors to
Ubuntu. They code, translate, do design work, triage bugs, support
users and perform leadership roles.

Basically these are people who have decided to set aside some of their
time to work on Ubuntu.

These are not what most people would consider "users" or "Joe
Lunchbuckets", but contributors - in some way.

> I agree, it's too technical for people who don't want to be involved in
> the technical side of Ubuntu.

The process for signing the Code of Conduct isn't straightforward.
We've been told that in the past. It would be nice to have a point &
click way to do all that, and when someone develops that I'm sure it
will be evaluated and eventually used. Until then we have what we
have. Some people have tried to make things easier by writing
documentation or making tutorial videos to help people seeking to
achieve this task..
http://screencasts.ubuntu.com/2010/12/22/004-SigningCoC

Take some time to read up on GPG. It's not that hard to grasp. I too
was like you, I didn't "get it" and would just generate keys when I
needed them. However when I signed the CoC I decided to set aside a
few minutes of my life to actually learn this stuff. I generated a
key, signed the Code of Conduct and the key is still there. I still
use it because I'm involved in the project. I sign my Tomboy uploads
with it, and it's been used by other people to encrypt sensitive data
like passwords that they need to send me. Useful stuff if you're
involved in the project. If you're not, then no, it's not as much use.

Still, it was only a few minutes of my life to do.
We have a problem with vpnc dropping out when the Cisco PIX firewall it is
connected to rekeys. I have done quite a bit of searching on the web and this
seems to be a problem with vpnc version 0.5.3. According to the home page
referenced in the vpnc manual page this has not been touched since 2009. Does
anybody know of a newer version anywhere that does not exhibit this behavior?
I am quite comfortable building from source if that is required. Alternately,
is there another open source solution for connecting to these devices. The
latest Cisco version I could find is a pig which refuses to compile with the
current kernel.
I have a Lenovo notebook that has no led for Caps lock turned on. On
service. Is there anything like it that works on Natty?
