I would imagine a regular user has little use for reading logs but having more details there for debugging issues when the occur or for app auto reporting is very beneficial. Although these messages can be rendered 'invisible' to the user by logcheck rules, this requires the mastery of extended regular expressions, and most users neither want this level of involvement nor want to spend undue time on system administration.
