If you have access to a Live CD, boot with it, do a clean up and reboot. You can also look in you /var directory to see if there are files you no longer need. Check your /tmp as well, in case it did not clean up from your last session. <BR>

Yes t'is me returning after a lengthy absence ( I was on the road)
with a really weird problem. My hard drive is suddenly reporting zero
free space and refuses to acknowledge all my attempts to free up space
by deleting videos and surplus music.

I'm using Karmic 9.10 on a Compaq 6829s laptop and, aside from a few
ongoing hassles with grub2, have generally been quite happy with it. I
don't know what exactly info you would need to get to the bottom of
this quandary and will humbly await your guided instructions to
acquire the relevant data to assist diagnosis.
