</div></div>To start with, ignore anything Karl says. He cannot give good advice,<br>
leave alone researching something if he doesn't know about it.<br>

First, make sure you upgrade to the latest version, if not you haven't<br>
done already (3.0.1).<br>
Start up the player and check the USB Controller option. There you<br>
will see three options. Make sure that you have "Enable high-speed<br>
support", "Automatically connect new devices" are both ticked. You<br>
might like to tick the third one.<br>
Finally start the VM and then plug the device and when a window pops<br>
up you will know that the device is recognised. Finally make sure that<br>
it is "connected". I found not all devices connect sometimes.<br>
<br>
The last thing is, I always found USB disk performance pretty low. You<br>
might like to turn on file sharing on the VM (Virtual Machine Settings<br>
-> Options -> Shared Folders -> Enable) and mount your external disk<br>
onto your normal environment and share it as such. I found the<br>
performance is significantly better on my Dell Latitute laptop when<br>
used like this.<br>
