Try the following command. I tested it and it works here.<br>

mplayer dvd://1 -dvd-device /dev/scd0<br>

If that works, you may not have a link called /dev/dvd and you would be<br>
using the drive's real device name. This isn't a problem, other than the<br>
fact that every time you play a DVD using mplayer, you will need to<br>
specify this -dvd-device option.<br>
