Sometimes the single http/ftp connection you set up with the server gets "queued" or something from your own isp or something like that. i dont know the technicalities, but its better to have a couple ~2 to 4 connections to the server for downloading large files.<br>
<br>If youre using firefox you might want to use the download manager Addon/plugin called "Downthemall" (yes its one word) or you might want to use a download manager like Download Accelerator Plus that integrates into IE, Firefox and others!<br>
<br>Otherwise, try something else entirely: torrents!! there are a couple official torrents on which you can download the different versions of ubuntu. <br><br>

<br>Get the torrent you need, run it in "Utorrent" or "Vuze" and start downloading!! its fast!! last time i checked there were a couple hundred people "seeding" and just a handful of "peers" (people still downloading the file). so you should get decent speeds, mostly limited by your dialup.<br>
