Is it a laptop? I had this problem once and it was due to the power<br>
manager in which I had selected an option "Dim screen when running on<br>
battery" or something like that. My laptop ACPI was not very well<br>
managed by Ubuntu and it was freezing trying to get the screen to dim.<br>
