I found a tutorial that specifically uses gmail (<a href="http://www.linuxha.com/other/sendmail/gmail.html" target="_blank">http://www.linuxha.com/other/sendmail/gmail.html</a>) as an SMTP provider. That means you would be sending the email through your gmail account. You can send email /to/ any email user, including other gmail users.
