<DIV>I have a Dell Inspiron 8000 with 512 mb RAM which has a recently crashed
hard drive. </DIV>

<DIV>I downloaded both Ubuntu v8.04 and Xubuntu Both will load from the CD up to
a point. When the "desktop" screen comes up, it is split vertically into three
more or less equal strips. Partial graphics and menus are in each strip.</DIV>
