Well i guess the good news is that it recognized something was there under sdb b/c if it didnt it would not show anything. This may sound dumb but you might try unplugging the device and the replugging it in. Then start the program and make sure you refresh it b/c sometimes it does take a few minutes. Other than this im not sure i can be much help Sorry.<br>

I dont know if you want to try this but you can use a gui to mount your drive. Its called storage device manager under System Tools in the application installer. Once installed it is under System - Administration. <br>

I fired that up. The device shows up as sdb but it has no partitions listed under it. For instance, sda has sda1 and sda5 under it. sdb, however, has nothing.<br>

I just did an update from 7.10 to 8.04. All went well with one<br>
very important exception. I have a data drive that houses all of<br>
my important data. In 7.10 it was /dev/hdb mounted on /data with<br>

/dev/sdb. But if I try to mount the drive with the command sudo<br>
