Build essential was indeed missing. That helped, now I am getting a
list of depends that were not met.<br>

Many thanks for the support. I have succeeded in installing an app
that probably consists of less than 200 lines of code. All I had to do
was install over 100 megabytes of files to make it work. Whats wrong
with this picture?<br>

I was just trying to update music applet to version 2.3. It is now in
and running and I suppose I will need all the other stuff I installed
someday. After a while linux will be as bloated as windows at this
rate.<br>
