Did you check the <a href="http://packages.ubuntu.com">packages.ubuntu.com</a> link? It lists the dependencies and shows this utility uses Imagemagick for the manipulation. I bet with a little research you could find out all you need to know to edit the scripts which make it all happen and ensure your quality is maintained.
