good luck. Samba is a pain, but it does work. There is also a
distressingly thick O'Reilly book on SAMBA which I found helpful when I

<pre wrap="">I have tried adding the user via command line. Made sure the samba services
are all on there.
The windows computer pings fine from the Ubuntu box and vica-versa.
I tried manually connecting to the window shares in the terminal but no go.
In windows I still cannot connect the Ubuntu box it just imes out, doesn't
even ask for a password. In nautilus and pyneighborhood and others it
doesn't see the windows pc. I tried to connect doing smb://pcname/share and
it doesn't work. I tried it via ip and still nothing. Lastly I uninstalled
everything relating to samba. And then I am trying to delete the config
files folder on etc but it will not let me.
Can you guys help get my Ubuntu pc see my windows shares? And also getting
my windows computer to be able to connect to a Ubuntu share(and or browse
for shares shared on the Ubuntu pc)?
If I could run a command and send it back to the group with the error code
it may help us out. Any suggestions on commands to run.
Thanks
Jim

Hi,
are you sure that the window machine is not sending an account username like
\computerName\userName? This can cause problems. Moreover check if the
window
machine has other network shares mounted, in that case it will send the same
username and password to the samba server, and if it is not right it will
not
allow you to access the share.

to /etc/samba/lmhost and try to do a nmblookup against the client name.
Hope this helps,
