This may be a case of you running the open source nVIDIA driver (rather
than the proprietary one) on a machine like the Toshiba Tecra M2 (you
didn't specify your hardware).<br>

If you are on an nVIDIA graphics controler, try enabling the screen
effects and as such install the proprietary nVIDIA driver.<br>
