I went to the BIOS settings and changed Primary Video Adaptater from PCI to AGP/Onboard but when Ubuntu started again, it stated with the same screen. So apparently it didn't put the old card back. Maybe I could take the card off the computer and the old settings would come back? What do you think? You can put anything there. At this point we need to get the original card working. What I would do is first check the CMOS/BIOS settings. Normally under Integrated Peripherals the is a setting VGA Boot from or init, set this to AGP or onboard. The machine should then use the original video. I would also restore the original xorg.conf to get it back to the state it was in before the new card was installed. If we can get it back to that state we have a known functioning system to start from.
