Hello Jan,<br><br>Thank you for your fast response.<br><br>I tried checking nVidia's website for the 7600GT driver (<a href="http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp">http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
</a>) and clicked the <a href="http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html">Linux, FreeBSD, and Solaris Drivers</a> link. I don't know which driver or link should I be clicking next.<br><br>Pardon me for my ignorance since this is totally new for me.
<br><br>Thank you very much!<br><br><div><span class="gmail_quote">On 7/28/07, <b class="gmail_sendername">Justin</b> <<a href="mailto:eqisow@gmail.com">eqisow@gmail.com</a>> wrote:</span><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="border-left: 1px solid rgb(204, 204, 204); margin: 0pt 0pt 0pt 0.8ex; padding-left: 1ex;">
Well, technically the 7600 GT only needs driver installation if you want 3D, but who doesn't want 3D? :p<br><br>Installation if the restricted binary driver is pie though.<strong><span style="font-weight: bold;"> </span>
System $B"*(B Administration $B"*(B Restricted Devices Manager</strong> should cover it.<br><br>By the way, in case you're not familiar, the drivers are called restricted because they are binary closed source. There's really no need to let the language scare you, except for the inherent security weaknesses in using binary blobs. (You have to wait for nvidia to recognize/fix security issues)
<br><br>Good luck with your new Ubuntu system. :)<br><br><div><div><span class="e" id="q_1140ceb7c412a751_1"><span class="gmail_quote">On 7/28/07, <b class="gmail_sendername">Jan Michelsburg</b> <<a href="mailto:technowizard@gmx.net" target="_blank" onclick="return top.js.OpenExtLink(window,event,this)">

Hell Rupert<br>
<br>
The only piece of hardware that needs a driver is the 7600 GT. All
other components are nativly supported.<br>

<br>
Good day!<br>
<br>
I'm new to this OS since I've used Windows as an Operating System to my
PC. I am planning to install and try it on my PC but I'm just wondering
about the drivers I will be needing.
<br>
<br>
My system's hardware are as follows:<br>
<br>
CPU: <span style="font-weight: bold;">AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core
3800+, 2.01 GHz </span><br>
Video: <span style="font-weight: bold;">nVidia GeForce 7600 GT </span><br>
Sound: <span style="font-weight: bold;">Realtek HD Audio output </span><br>
Memory: <span style="font-weight: bold;">2048MB </span><br>
Connection: <span style="font-weight: bold;">NVIDIA nForce Networking
Controller<br>
<br>
</span>Will I need to download Linux drivers or are there native
drivers included in the Ubuntu OS which can support the hardware for my
PC.<br>
<br>
Any inputs will be very much appreciated.<br>
<br>
Thank you!<br>
