out there can help me. I have a Compaq laptop currently dual-booting
Feisty and XP. I'm using an el cheapo AT&T wireless card with the
machine. In general, wireless works great in most places under both
OSs. However, when I take my laptop down to the local Books-a-Million/ Joe
Mugg's coffee shop, I can't get Feisty to authenticate my browser session.
XP connects without a hitch.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>

<DIV><SPAN class=993474418-12062007><FONT face=Arial size=2>I have learned
through persistent inquiry that BAM uses the services of Pronto Networks to
authenticate customers. As is typical in other hotspots, such as Panera
Bread, one is normally redirected a an authentication page whenever an external
URL is invoked. There you are required to enter your BAM member code in
order to gain access. However, in the case of Feisty, my browser (I've
tried both Firefox and Epiphany) never attempts to redirect- instead it
simply times out without connecting. Firefox works fine under
XP.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>

it sees and is connecting to the BAM network, and I do get an IP address.
I've tried copying and pasting the redirect URL I copied in Windows with no
success. I also tried using a URL that Pronto Networks suggested when I
called them. Still no love.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>

suggestions? I'm really frustrated regarding this situation as I hate
being forced to work in Windows. I know at least one other Linux customer
at the store has had trouble (no details available), and I've seen one or two
similar posts on the Ubuntu forums.</FONT></SPAN></DIV>
