Is yours optical or laser? Laser mice have a much higher resolution, which I suspect is the source of the problem. The mouse was recognized & works fine-- right down to the annoying "email" button that I never use (intentionally, at least). It doesn't so much seem a compatibility issue as configuration issue. It's overly sensitive to the desktop material. Per Jeffrey's suggestion, I've been experimenting with different materials as a "mouse pad". A magazine seems to work pretty well, so until I have time to get to an office supply store, it will have to do. I'd prefer a more elegant solution (I've never been a mouse pad fan), but it's better than nothing.
