I had the same problem. I compiled a custom kernel to correct this (this isn't to hard to do) and didn't have internet acces after that to look what the problem really was... maybe in the future. For you, just get a vanilla kernel from <a href="http://kernel.org">kernel.org</a> and configure it with a working .config in your /boot directory (using make menuconfig). Just find an Ubuntu tut. on the web about this. I would suggest filing a bug report against your kernel with as much info as possible, i.e. output of lshw etc. Or am I missing something?
