I also have the queue problem of Chris with my usb hp printer (psc 1110). I have also had this problem (that's what I meant with recognize after reboot, my bad...). Of course the printer is still in the database after the reboot, but the system acts like it isn't there. Also the cups auto detection fails after this. I searched a bit further and lsusb doesn't give the right values. Seems to me that this should be a general usb problem since it doesn't even recognize my crappy Thrustmaster or my iPod when I plug it in.
