Hi fr's I trying to inststall ubuntu. I reboots the system after inserting CD ,we generally got the main menu.I m also getting after this when i press ENTER for ubuntu installation my SYSTEM is going to restar that's the problem i have????? I have already send u my system information............ I am not sure from your message what your problem is or what you want to change. I will start, however, with your stated goal - to move to Ubuntu. You need to understand the following: 1. If you simply wish to run a live CD of Ubuntu - you need to enter the CMOS setup and change the boot order to facilitate booting from the CD. Look at the screen for a message "to enter setup" and press the key(s) mentioned. Look for "boot order" in the pages and see that CD is before HD (Hard Drive). If not, you will always boot into your Windows and the system will never look to boot at the CD. A live CD will not change your hard drive and when you remove it you can return to using windows. They do run kind of slow. The newest version of Ubuntu ( 6.06 Dapper) comes only on a Live CD and you can install through an application available from a Desktop icon. 2. If you want to install Ubuntu on your hard drive please understand that it will affect your Master Boot Record (MBR). Your current MBR will boot you into Windows 2000, the installation of Ubuntu without running a special program to make a partition to put Ubuntu on would destroy the Windows 2000 installation that you have.
