Sorry, I forgot this was a new thread. It starts loading services and seems to have no problems until it starts GDM and then "HP Printing Utilities." At this point, the screen goes blank and nothing else happens. Neither the CD nor the hard drive appear to be spinning. This happens with every kind of fix I've tried. Just to be sure: installed (k,x)ubuntu-desktop before doing that? As another poster has noted, aptitude might be a better option than apt-get, since it is much better at resolving dependencies. Also, upgrading via System/Administration/Update Manager (as explained in the upgrade notes) seems to be safer. Many people seem to have problems doing it the CLI way. For me it went smooth though, but I upgraded before the Flight CDs came out.
