I'm thinking you need to enable the Universe/Multiverse repositories. <a href="https://wiki.ubuntu.com/AddingRepositoriesHowto">https://wiki.ubuntu.com/AddingRepositoriesHowto</a> should tell you how. Then you should be able to apt-get any of the things you need.
