Fine...Its works...I mounted my harddisk on /mnt and my player is by default mounted on /media so the player icon appears along with the cd/dvd etc and my harddisk does not.... Yes, all removeable media are mounted under /media. So if you put your local drives under /media, they will show up on the desktop. Have you tried, as suggested, to mount your hard drives under /mnt ?
