Samba to Samba is easy, Samba to Windows in share mode is easy, Samba
to Mac is easy, but Samba to Windows XP just mysteriously fails now
and again, especially if you're unlucky. You have to fiddle with some
obscure items in the smb.conf. It happens. I'm just suggesting we take
a look. Is that acceptable? I'm not attacking Samba.

<pre wrap="">I find current versions of Samba fairly easy. Samba to Windows XP in
Windows Domains with User Profiles work just fine for me. I have not
users a Windows server but how easy is it to get Windows Servers and
Desktops connected.

I'm not trying to start a debate on the current state of Samba, I'm
just sympathising with the OP that Samba can sometimes be hard to
configure, and can he please show us his config so we can debug.
That's all. Yes, Windows to Windows networking can be hard too. I
agree.

More Information is always helpful. In almost 20 years of *nix use
virtually all of my major problems have been simple to correct, once I
knew what was causing the problem. In my windows experience all most
all of my major problems have been uncorrectable.<br>
