I don't know if Ubuntu has RAID drivers for this particular device on
the setup, I wouldn't know how to use them if it did either. I do know
that Ubuntu has some RAID drivers in the installer though.<br>

Actually I didn't know about dmraid, but apparently it "discovers,
activates, deactivates and displays properties
of software RAID sets (eg, ATARAID) and contained DOS partitions" and
supports "Silicon Image(tm) Medley(tm)". I'm not sure if that means it
will support Silicon Image 3112A fakeraid or not, but it could be
interesting.<br><br><div><br>

My friend found a forum posting in which someone explained how they did
this with Ubuntu. It looked pretty complex. He's not willing to go to
those lengths. Maybe it can be done more easily than the posting
described, I don't know. Here is the post:

My friend doesn't think this is possible, he said that once a drive becomes 'RAIDed' the whole drive becomes 'RAIDed'.<br>
