We just had a lecture about web services and XML. In that, Colin Thorne of IBM (Hursley Labs, UK) mentioned that one of the main reasons for the success of XML is that it is both machine readable and human readable. He also mentioned that some XML fanatics, use XML tagging even in day to day documents like e-mail. This is the first time I am seeing it though.
