I just upgraded my "oldworld" 1998 Powerbook G3 (aka "PDQ" or "Wallstreet II") to Breezy, and have had the usual sort of upgrade issues. (Known problems with the upgrade process from Hoary, etc. Synaptic and then X windows died LONG before the upgrade was complete, and apt-get kept breaking, too, but I got the dist-upgrade finished in VT1 using .... aptitude ... !) HOWEVER one show stopper is now under Breezy's kernel I cannot switch to a virtual terminal. To switch among VT1, VT7, etc. in previous kernels, it was Ctrl-Alt-F1, Ctrl-Alt-F2, etc., and after switching to classic Mac OS in MOL I used Ctrl-Cmd-F1, Ctrl-Cmd-F2, etc. Or maybe it was the other way around. I just know one would work when the other didn't. (The key cap says both Alt and Option, by the way.) I can't really figure out what's going wrong with MOL until I get this fixed, and of course there are some times you just have to have a virtual terminal! ;-) Does anyone have a suggestion for where to look? My next step will be to try killing off X to see if maybe Xorg is intercepting the key sequence now.... but I thought I would ask the list first in case there's a known issue I'm running into. P.S.: I still have fn-ctrl as the middle button and fn-option as the right click button (as I prefer it) so that carried over with the upgrade. I can't remember where that gets set -- but my "to-do" list includes looking for any changed options in pbbuttonsd.conf and elsewhere... P.P.S.: The "notap" option isn't getting set in pbbuttonsd, either... if you know what this is you know how annoying it is to have it set the "wrong" way.
