Hi

Under breezy, the rippin gof CDs was awfully slow. After reading some interventions on Wiki I tried to use the ide-scsi option on the start line for grub, and magically the CD ripping was running much faster now. Further reading stated that I should also disable the auto-start of a cd/dvd player to enhance the speed more. I did search for another way to address the CD/DVD than to use the hda designation, but I could not find a sdx or sgx device on the system. How must I address the CD/DVD when scsi-emulation is on?

Next day ripping was again very slow, though the parameters were still the same. I tried readding the cd/dvd auto-play feature, removed the ide-scsi line and redid everything again. But to now help. It is even getting worse. Now I have no longer access to the CD, neither audio nor data CDs are recopgnised. I cannot mount a CD and only hear a weird sound.
Alain
