A light tap wont damage it either way, but I hit mine pretty hard on the cement to make it work, and it seemed pretty risky, so I would only do that in a LAST resort. I'll see whether it behaves tomorrow morning. If that doesn't work I'll try knocking it on something hard and if THAT doesn't work, I'll investigate cheap data recovery.
