Hi all,<br><br>I've recently put my parents on breezy and nearly everything is<br>straightforward for them. But there is one thing that has just caused<br>difficulty. That is extracting pictures from a digital camera and<br>
printing them.<br><br>What programs in breezy are recommended for recognising that a digital<br>camera is plugged in and bringing up a dialog to get the pictures off<br>into their home directory (or an organised directory heirarchy). And
<br>what programs then to select and arrange pictures on the page and print<br>like Windows XP has - you can select the pictures you want to print,<br>select how many copies of each, and select the number of pictures to fit
<br>on one sheet/picture sizes and press go - then out pops several sheets<br>of photo's.<br><br>If there's not yet any such facility, what is the best way to try to get<br>a project set up for dapper?</blockquote><div><br>

I would recommend gthumb for photo organizing, which should "just
work". If it's not, I'd like to know if hal is still up and
running. Have you tried inserting anything like USB key to see if
that's recognized?<br>
<br>
Also, check on your camera, which I don't know what you have, but if
it's a newer camera it may be in "pictbridge" mode. I can't ever
get that to work on Linux. I change the mass media setting on my
camera to USB storage, and I never have a problem. So, if your
camera is trying to connect over USB using any protocol OTHER than PTP
or USB Mass Storage, change it to one of those and try your luck.<br>
<br>
And, last but not least, I would recommend gnome-photo-printer for
printing. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to come with a .desktop
file, so after you install it you'll need to add it to the menu with
smeg.<br>
